Birnin Gwari: Armed Bandits Attack Villages, Burn Houses Again

BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – A day after a heart touching motion was moved on the floor of the House of Representatives by Hon. Hassan Adamu Shekarau, representing Birnin-Gwari/Giwa Federal Constituency, some armed bandits on Tuesday overran four villages Kakangi ward of the local government.

It was gathered that the armed bandits stormed and attacked the villages at about 5.00pm on Tuesday during which its operation lasted for three and half hours. The affected villages include Mashigi, Dakwaro, Sabon Gida and another adjacent Dakwaro.

A member of volunteers, Malam Umar said that so far 10 bodies of those killed were recovered while many are still unaccounted for, adding that the armed bandits burnt houses and grains stock of the affected villages.

Following the ugly incident, volunteers from the southern axis of Birnin-Gwari and Security men were mobilized to ascertain the number of casualties.

A concerned source said: “The affected villages are in need of aid such as food, shelter and clothes”.

In spite of the attacks and Kidnappings taking place daily along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, the people of the area are commending the federal government and security agencies for the deployment of personnel to deal with the situation in the area.

The however appealed for the deployment of more troops and special police task force to the area.
