Scores of residents have reportedly been killed by suspected herdsmen who invaded Amegu Nkalaha Community in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

According to the Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area, Mrs. Ifeoma Agwu, the causality figure was yet to be ascertained as the evacuation of dead bodies was still ongoing.
Mrs Agwu, while disclosing that the bodies are being deposited at the mortuary, said; “We are taking the victims’ bodies to the mortuary right now. I cannot talk much on it now. We will give more details later”.
A member of the community and former Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Professor Ndubuisi Idenyi who confirmed the attack said; “My Village Amegu Nkalaha was attacked today by herdsmen. Many have been killed and houses razed, what a black Sunday!”

We are still tracking and bringing out the dead bodies especially those killed in the farms”.
Meanwhile, when contacted on the incident, the Ebonyi State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Joshua Ukandu claimed ignorance of the incident but promised to make necessary findings and revert to reporters later.
