…Three other officers unconscious, arrests made
The Nigeria Police Force, FCT command on Sunday, August 25, 2024 said that members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria popularly known as Shi’ite launched an unprovoked attack on its personnel killing two with three others left unconscious in the hospital.
A statement by SP Josephine Adeh, Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police command, said the attack took place at Wuse Junction by traffic light during which three patrol vehicles were set ablaze.


Adeh further said that the Shi’ite members specifically attacked a police checkpoint unprovoked, wielding machetes, improvised explosive devices (locally made bombs in bottles with kerosene), and knives.
The police spokesperson said that while several arrests have been effected, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, condemned the unprovoked attack on Police officers and vowed to bring those involved to book.
Adeh however, said that the situation is presently under control and normalcy restored, adding that further development will be communicated in due course.
