Bolande Raheem Murder: Court Remands Killer Cop Vandi In Ikoyi Prison
BY CHINYERE OBIORA, LAGOS – A Yaba Chief Magistrate Court on Friday ordered that the killer policeman, ASP Drambi Vandi be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Center pending the conclusion of Police investigations into his alleged shooting and killing of Lagos lawyer, Mrs Bolanle Raheem on Christmas day.
The remand order followed a one-count murder charge filed before the court by the Lagos State Attorney-General, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) against ASP Vandi.
The charge sheet reads: “That you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015″.
With the charge, signed by the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Babajide Martins, the Attorney General applied for the remand of the defendant pursuant to Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos, 2015.
He said the basis for the remand order is to enable the police properly conclude its investigations into the matter.
In granting the request, the Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre while further directing that the case file be duplicated and sent to the DPP for legal advice.
The Magistrate Court thereafter adjourned the matter to January 30, 2023, to await legal advice from the DPP’s office.
