Faced with imminent defeat, aides of Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, with the help of the military authorities,are mauling the deployment of soldiers and other security personnel to strategic polling units in Zaria, Kubau, Ikara and Kudan local government areas of the state.
The decision to draft the military to some strategic polling units in the aforestated local councils, followed what insiders described as “unexpected results that gave a clear lead to the PDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Ashiru Kudan, in the race for Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.”
According to a reliable source, “the el-Rufai camp is jittery at the outcome of result so far declared at the polling units. If nothing is done to upturn the result, then, the present governor is faced with an embarrassing defeat.
“Presently, top aides of the governor, headed by Senator-elect Uba Sani, are meeting in a Kaduna hotel to turn the heat on INEC in order to compromise the results. This is planned to take place within this night at both the ward and local government collation centre
To ensure that the results are upturned, strange faces in diverse security outfits are to be deployed in all collation centres at both wards and local government, another source added.
Top politicians of the PDP, according to sources, are determined to defend the overwhelming votes so far declared at the various polling units in Zone 1, including Zone 2 that has given the PDP flag bearer a clear lead.
Governor el-Rufai had declared that only his aides were jittery in the the event of his defeat, stressing that he has a job already with President Muhammadu who was re-elected on February 23, 2019.
