Breaking: Plateau Assembly Crisis: Police Commissioner Arrests Speaker, 10 Members.
The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State has arrested the Speaker, Hon. Abok Ayuba and 10 other members of the House.
The development followed the attempt by the Speaker allegedly impeached by eight members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of the House to hold plenary session with some of the members of the House.
The embattled Speaker and the majority of the members of the House are insisting that the alleged impeachment was unconstitutional and illegal as it did not meet the requirement of the rules of the Legislature and the provisions of the constitution.
The Speaker and the ten members arrested by the Commissioner of Police attempted to hold a session on Monday which led the police to tear gas the Assembly and prevented them from sitting.
