BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido on Thursday took the government of President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption to the cleaners, saying it is noisy, deceptive with no concrete results to show.
Lamido specifically said Buhari is merely making noise as there is no iota of truth in his so-called commitment to improve security and arrest corruption in the country.
The former Governor, who stated these in an interview with the BBC monitored in Abuja by Forefront news, said President Buhari was an associate of the Late General Sani Abacha, considered as one of the most corrupt Nigerian leaders in history.
According to him; “President Buhari worked under the late General Sani Abacha and was known to be the closest to the late military ruler and when it comes to corruption, everybody knows where Abacha’s government stands.”
Lamido also lampooned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its refusal to tell Nigerians the real owners of the monies recovered in Osborne Estate and Apartments in Lagos.
“It is unthinkable to say that the EFCC discovered huge monies in a building in Lagos but could not track the real owner. Who leaked the story? Who did the source say is the owner?
“Those in position of authority should always have the courage to tell the led the truth because leadership is sacred”, he said
Lamido regretted that the EFCC, cum the presidency, largely manufactured a dishonest story about the over $40 million dollars found in an apartment at Osborne Estate Ikoyi, Lagos
