BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government is incompetent, lacks focus and worse of it running a one-sided administration.
Atiku also said that he would soon expose the monumental level of corruption practices in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, which he described as the most corrupt of all the governments since 1999, stressing that what he has seen in the last three years is what he had not seen in the last 35 years in the country.
Addressing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters at the party’s secretariat, situated along the Abakaliki – Enugu expressway, Atiku noted that the Buhari administration is only fighting corruption while other critical responsibilities of government have been neglected.
The former Vice President deprecated the high level of unemployment in the country, saying that over 11 million graduates are currently unemployed, adding that what is happening today in the country is in contravention with all provisions in the Nigerian constitution.
In his words; “Let nobody come and deceive you on corruption; they are more corrupt than any government that I know since 1999. We shall be revealing their level of corruption. Fighting corruption alone is not the only responsibility of government.
“In our federation, we are supposed to have an inclusive government, but you know that this Federal Government is not inclusive. You know that this federal government is not united; you know that this Federal Government is incompetent, you know that this Federal Government is more corrupt than any government we have come through since 1999.
“Our unemployment is accelerating high and there has never been a time we had more than 11 million people, young people and women thrown out of job. Today, we have more than 11 million unemployed people. Today, we have witnessed much insecurity in the country. Today, we are witnessing high level of inflation the APC government has brought on this country.”
Atiku assured that the alliance formed by the 40 political parties in the country will throw out the APC government in 2019.
He further said; “The coalition is going to have one candidate for presidential election, one candidate for governor, one candidate for senator, one candidate for House of Reps, one candidate for House of Assembly, one candidate for party chairman. We need this alliance because what I have seen in the last three years is what I have not seen in the last 35 years in this country.
“Therefore, we are determined, we are united and we are ready to make sure that in the next election, whether state, national or federal, we will kick out APC in every state in this country. We have never experienced the level of poverty we are facing today. They are selling crude oil around $70 per barrel now; when we came in 1999 it was around $10 dollars per barrel.
Atiku regretted that Nigerians have not been so divided in history, promising that he would pursue the unity of the country as well as tackle the various security challenges facing the country just as he added that the present APC government has relegated women to the background in the appointment into political office.
