C-River Hosts Calabar Fashion Week In November
BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – To further drive the administration’s People’s First agenda for effective service delivery, the Cross River State Government has again expanded its tourism calendar to include the Calabar Fashion Week (CFW) tagged; “Our Fashion, Our Lifestyle”
Accordingly, the government is already preparing grounds to host the CFW in the first weekend of November 2024 as part of efforts at repositioning the State for sustainable socio-economic growth and development.
Organisers hinted that a consortium of fashion designers across the country will participate in the Week-long event expected to feature the exhibition of quality local fabrics designed and developed by many budding talents.
The President of Phronesis Fashion World (PFW), Mr Jude Attah, who is among the event promoters, told Forefront in Calabar that the initiative was inspired by the fact that some communities within the state are noted for their expertise in local fabric weaving, and the CFW will provide a huge opportunity for them to showcase their respective talents
Mr Attah said with Calabar already a well-known brand name in tourism promotion, they merely needed to key in and contribute their quota in bringing to limelight those hidden treasures the State is awesomely blessed with.
He also disclosed that the Week will host a Talk-Shop in partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), where the Chairman of the Cross River State Council, Comrade Archibong Bassey is scheduled to deliver a keynote lecture on the role of media in fashion promotion
