  • You’re wicked, barbaric – Aide accuses Ayade, resigns

BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – The blazing communal clash between Nko and Onyedama communities in Yakurr and Obubra Local Government Areas of Cross River State has assumed a frightening dimension with some stakeholders crying out for help and demanding immediate demilitarization of the area.

The cry for help is coming from Community Leaders in Nko, who are alleging dehumanisation and ill-treatment of community members at the hands of the military personnel drafted to the area to maintain peace.

Addressing a press conference in Calabar to draw attention to the alleged bitter and harrowing experiences of their people, the Community Leaders said it is unfortunate that the security personnel are deliberately unleashing mayhem on the hapless people.

A former commissioner on the board of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), representing Akwa Ibom/Cross River States, Dr Akpama Mbang Akpama said aside from dehumanizing the people, children are no longer going to school even as the NECO examination is ongoing.

Dr Akpama, accompanied by former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, and other leaders, however commended the State government for measures so far taken to ensure lasting peace returns to the area.

He appealed to the Military High Command to relocate their personnel from the community to the border area to ensure normal human activities, including the reopening of schools, could return to their community.

According to him, the Nko community is seriously under siege with all forms of human activities that can aid and sustain the people’s survival disrupted.

Akpama appealed to international organizations, NGOs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to come to the aid of their people who have been rendered homeless, traumatized and exposed to harsh weather conditions that has rendered life miserable and unbearable.

Ayade’s Aide Resigns, Accuses Him Of  Wickedness, Barbaric Acts

HIS EXCELLENCY,
Sen Prof Ben Ayade
Governor of Cross River State
Office of Governor
Calabar

29-06-2022

Your Excellency

RESIGNATION AS SENIOR SPECIAL ADVISER SOLID MINERAL PROTECTION AND MONITORING DEVELOPMENT

Sir,

It’s with sadness that I wish to tender my resignation as SSA. I have served as SSA for Eight (8) months. From November 2021 – June 2022

My decision to resign is bone out of the governor/governments’ insensitivity, wickedness and hatred for the good people of my community, Nko in Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The Governor, through his Deputy Chief Press Secretary on Monday 27th June 2022, presided over by Governor, ordered the total elimination of the entire people of Nko by the Nigerian Army for reasons best beneficial to him the Governor.

His take and statement as Governor and Chief Security Officer of the State reads and I quote; “The Governor has ordered the Nigerian Army to sustain its operation (kill) in Nko, until those behind the shooting of Six military personnel are produced or fished out.

This statement is satanic of a leader and Chief Security Officer. The Governor has NOT visited the screen of action, yet acts on hear say, yet Over 10 persons have been shot dead, houses razed down, children, women, aged displaced , properties destroyed by the Military.

Yet the Chief Security Officer will ask the Army to carryout their onslaught against the innocent and armless people of Nko. This is barbaric.

For the Governor’s statement and hatred for my people, I resign henceforth. His statement clearly shows he wants (my people) extinct from the face of the earth.

For this nonchalance, wickedness and barbaric act of My Governor, I resign my appointment as Senior Special Assistant from today, 29th June 2022.

My People First!!
Long Live Nko

Thank you

Goddie Archibong Akpama
