Car Rams Into Truck, Kills Two, Injures Four In Ogun

Two persons have been reported dead with four others injured when a car conveying them rammed into a truck at Iyana Egbado stretch of Lagos – Abeokuta expressway.

Occurring around 0605 am hours on Independence Day, the accident involved a Nissan Cabster marked KTU142XH and a Mack truck with T-12736LA as its registration number.

According to the Superintendent Route Commander and Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, the cause of the accident was identified as “excessive speed and road obstruction.”

Okpe said in a statement on behalf of the FRSC’s Sector Commander, Ogun Sector Command, Umar Ahmed, that the Nissan car rammed into the truck which had issue over a flat tyre.

She said the injured victims were taken to State General Hospital Ifo while the remains of the dead were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.

The Public Education Officer quoted the Sector Commander as commiserating with the family of the victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC, Itori Command for more information about the accident.

Additionally, the FRSC Commander urged motorists to avoid indiscriminate parking of vehicles by road side and if there was a break down, efforts should be made to evacuate such immediately to avoid untoward incidents.
