CDS Tasks New COAS-Yahaya On Fight Against Insurgency, Banditry

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor on Friday tasked the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Farouk Yahaya to build on the legacy of his predecessor, particularly in the fight against insurgency and banditry.

General Irabor, who gave the charge when he played host to the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Farouk Yahaya in his office, at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Abuja, congratulated him on his new appointment which he described as well deserved.

Irabor wished Yahaya a successful tenure in office as he assumes command.

The COAS was accompanied on the visit by the Chief of Policy and Plans Headquarters Nigerian Army, Major General Benjamin Ahanotu.

Highlight of the visit was the General Irabo’s presentation of Nigerian Army flag to the new COAS.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, May 27, 2021 appointed Major General Yahaya as the new Army Chief.
