Tragedy struck at Egbe community in Yagba West Local Government of Kogi state as unknown gunmen killed three Police officers who were on duty at a check point in the area.
Confirming the unfortunate incident to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday, the Kogi State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, said the incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday at the boundary between Kogi and Kwara states.
SP Aya further stated that the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has deployed operatives from the tactical team to comb the areas and arrest the gunmen.
According to him, “I can confirm to you that three of our officers on duty were killed today in Egbe; a border community with Kwara State.”
“The Commissioner of Police has deployed tactical squad to the area. We are currently on the trail of the gunmen; they will all be arrested.”
He also assured that justice will be served on all those involved in the dastardly act, stressing that the Police Commissioner is focused on making Kogi State safe and secured for all citizens
