CJN Tanko Tests COVID-19 Positive

BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, is the latest name on the list of high profile Nigerians to have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).

With reports that the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has expressed fears over fresh spike in the virus outbreak across the country, official sources at the apex Court confirmed that Justice Tanko is presently abroad for medical treatment.

Tanko’s colleague at the Supreme Court, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, disclosed his status while unveiling the national headquarters of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria.

Justice Saulawa said the CJN was receiving treatment in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

The Chief Justice was absent at the swearing-in of 72 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) during a ceremony held to mark the commencement of the new legal year, at the Supreme Court on Monday, December 14, 2020 ‎

The event was presided by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, being the next most senior Justice of Nigeria’s apex Court.
