CNN Demands Oshiomhole’s Arrest By ICPC For Corruption

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – A Non-Governmental Organisation on the aegis of Coalition for New Nigeria (CNN), on Wednesday stormed the headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Abuja demanding for the arrest, investigation and trial of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over serious corruption charges.

The CNN specifically want the anti-corruption agencies to begin a comprehensive probe of not only the allegations of bribe taking from aspirants and candidates for 2019 general elections but his two term tenure as governor of Edo state.

Convener of the Coalition, Barrister Stanley Ohu, who led hundreds of demonstrators with placards bearing different inscriptions to the ICPC, said they are determined to arrest the danger faced by their party, the APC, occasioned by the integrity challenged National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Ohu said the APC is in serious crisis following the most reprehensible, divisive and widely condemned primaries across the states that were deliberately skewed by Oshiomhole in favour of buyers as against those that genuinely won.

According to him; “Today, the APC which was gaining grounds and welcoming new members is far from the all-embracing party it was when Mr. Oshiomhole took over as National Chairman.

“Given the various allegations of corruption by respected chieftains and members of the APC, we are here calling on the various anti-corruption agencies to begin a comprehensive probe of not only these allegations, but his time the governor of Edo state.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we are well aware that Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federl High Court ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to commence criminal proceedings against Mr. Oshiomole for allegedly diverting state funds into personal use.

The CNN therefore demanded the immediate resignation of Oshiomhole as National Chairman of the APC as a result of the plethora of allegations against him leading to even the DSS inviting him and demanding for his resignation.

The Coalition said that in the event Oshiomhole chooses to tread the path of the little honour left of him, it urge President Buhari to ask him to leave before he leads the APC down the path of ignominy in 2019.

The Convener of CNN assured that Wednesday’s protest to the ICPC will not be the end of the Coalition’s protest until Oshiomhole leaves the exalted office of the National Chairman of the governing APC, the party of Change.
