BY EVELYN DADU, ABUJA – The Nigerian Army (NA) on Thursday released posting and appointments of some of its senior officers.
A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima said that the postings and appointments are in line with the vision of the Chief Army Staff to have a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria.
The statement indicated that Major General FO Omoigui has been moved from the Headquarters, Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI to Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria as Director General while Major General CG Musa is leaving the Nigerian Army Resource Centre to Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI as Theatre Commander just as Major General OR Aiyenigba has been moved from Defence Headquarters to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police as Provost Marshal (Army).
Other postings include that of Major General IM Jallo, who has been moved from Defence Space Administration to the Headquarters of Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI as Deputy Theatre Commander 1 while Brigadier General NU Muktar was moved from the Nigeria High Commission Islamabad to the Office of the Chief of Army Staff as Director of Procurement.
Similarly, Brigadier General O Nwachukwu was moved from the Defence Headquarters as Director of Defence Information to Headquarters Directorate of Army Public Relations as Director while Brigadier General AE Abubakar has been redeployed from the Department of Training and Operations (Defunct) to Headquarters 22 Brigade and appointed Commander.
The statement further stated that Brigadier General KO Ukandu was moved from the Office of the Chief of Army Staff as the Director of Procurement to the National Defence College as Directing Staff just as Brigadier General IB Abubakar was deployed from Nigerian Army Armour School to Army Headquarters Department of Army Operations as Deputy Director Operations while Brigadier General AM Umar has been deployed from Army War College Nigeria to Office of the Chief of Army Staff to resume as Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army Staff.
Others include; Brigadier General AJS Gulani from Nigerian Army Armour School to Headquarters 24 Task Force Brigade as Commander, Colonel KE Inyang from Headquarters Department of Army Logistics to the Office of the Chief of Army Staff and appointed Military Assistant to the Chief of Army Staff, Colonel OO Braimah from Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI to Nigeria High Commission Islamabad and appointed Defence Attachee and Colonel IP Omoke from Office of the Chief of Army Staff to Defence Intelligence Agency and appointed Assistor Director Foreign Liaison/ Liaison Officer(Army).
Brigadier General Yerima, who was carrying out one of his last assignments as Director, Army Public Relations said the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya urged all the affected senior officers to justify the confidence reposed in them, adding that all posting and appointments are with immediate effect.
