BY EDMOND ODOK – If everything goes according to plan, genuine contractors may soon be smiling to the banks as the Federal Government is making concrete efforts to clear outstanding payments for contracts executed by Federal Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs).
However, outside complying with government’s laid down rules for the award and execution of contracts, no payment will be made for contracts that flout due process or not executed according to specification.
This cheering news is coming from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) which also confirmed that the next payment of the N35,000 wage award comes up by June ending.
A statement issued by the OAGF in Abuja explained that “The Federal Government has records of contracts executed by MDAs and is meticulous in the payment for these contracts to guarantee value for money spent.
“Efforts are underway to pay for contracts duly awarded and completed according to specifications”.
The OAGF, while also referencing the N35,000 wage award, said the Federal Government had commenced payment of the five months outstanding arrears in May 2025, adding that the payment of the wage award will continue every month until the arrears is exhausted.
The statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, assured that the next payment of the N35,000 wage award will take place immediately after the June 2025 salary has been paid
