Control Your Greed, Hunger For Power – Omehia Tells Wike

BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – As political manoeuvring and forces continue to realign in Rivers State, a former Governor of the State, Sir Celestine Omehia has cautioned the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike to put in check his greed and propensity for power and allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara to perform his duties as the elected governor.

Sir Omehia said that quite unfortunately, Wike’s undying inclination for power is tormenting him and continues to serve him unstable moments.

Speaking in Port Harcourt, the State capital on Saturday, Omehia described Wike’s uncontrolled outbursts as product of a confused mind, noting that the anger stems from the fact his ambition of a third tenure has crashed fatally.

The former Governor was responding to the recent live television interview by the FCT Minister in Abuja where he called Omehia and other PDP Leaders in Rivers State who declared support for the administration of Governor Sim Fubara and President Bola Tinubu as “expired politicians and buccaneers”

In a statement by his Executive Assistant, Nicholas Amaechi, the former Governor also said the people of Rivers State have realized that Wike’s quest for power is personal and not for the interest of State or the South South region at large as claimed.

The statement said; “The FCT Minister thought that he would continue to control and abuse the resources and governance of the state but God, through the people resisted the impeachment plot by his members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

“Wike is notorious for lying against anyone, anytime and disrespects elders at will, so there is no surprise about his outburst and criticism against innocent personalities in Rivers State.”

Sir Omehia further noted that; “Wike speaks from both sides of his mouth, he says something today and denies it tomorrow like a clown. I am not a buccaneer and my capacity to contribute to the growth and development of my state and country is not impaired.

“I wonder why he is pained by our support for the Governor and the Federal Government under President Tinubu. Does he want us to perpetually be at political war with everybody, even long after elections are over and governance taken over? Is it not madness?”

While noting that Wike’s excesses, inconsistencies and hallucinations have reached a shameful peak, Omehia urged him to face his job in Abuja as the State is not missing his presence and nuisance value at all.
