Court Confines Man, 48, For Defiling 3 Daughters

For allegedly defiling his three daughters, a 48-year-old man, Igbo Thomas, has been remanded at the Awka Correctional Centre in Anambra State

An Anambra State High Court ordered that Thomas, who hails from Enugu State, be confined and kept away from sane society pending the conclusion of hearing on the case.

The three minors violated by their father are ages eight (8) years; four (4) years; and eighteen (18) months respectively.

The man was said to have committed the offence at Enuoji village in Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He was arrested for the offence on May 24, 2021, in Okolo Ani village, Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State by the Anambra Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Reports indicated that Thomas, who confessed to the crime, blamed his action on the influence of alcohol.

According to a statement by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Edwin Okadigbo, the Corp Commandant, Vincent Ogu, had ordered a discrete investigation into the matter before the suspect was charged.

The statement said; “The suspect was arraigned in Awka yesterday and was ordered to be remanded at the correctional centre by the State High Court Judge

“On May 24, 2021, the Anambra State Command of the NSCDC arrested one Mr Igbo Thomas of Okolo Ani village in Igbo Etiti LGA of Enugu State for allegedly having canal knowledge of his three daughters.

“Upon conclusion of a thorough investigation, the suspect was arraigned before a state high court Judge, and has been remanded at the Awka Correctional Centre.” – With This Day report
