For allegedly beating a woman to death, an Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife, on Friday remanded a 25-year-old man, Adebisi Kola in prison custody.

The police had charged Kola with assault and homicide, but the magistrate, Kikelomo Adebayo did not take Kola’s plea because his court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the case.

She therefore ordered that he should be remanded in the Ile-Ife Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Consequently, the magistrate adjourned the matter until June 21, for mention.

Presenting the case in court, the prosecutor, Police Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi said Kola committed the offence on April 15, 2024, around 4 pm at Ita-Apata Area, Ile-Ife.

According to Osanyintuyi, in beating Omisakin Grace to death, Kola committed an offence that is punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Representing the defendant in court was his counsel, Mr Micheal Babatunde.
