Court Finds Bobrisky Guilty Over Naira Abuse
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday, April 5, 2024, convicted a cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky for abuse of the Naira.
Bobrisky was arrested on Thursday, April 4, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and arraigned in Court on Friday on four counts of Naira abuse for which he pleaded guilty to the charges.
The Court presided over by Justice Abimbola Awogboro after a review of the facts of the case, found Bobrisky guilty of the offence of abusing the Naira.
In his plea, Bobrisky told the court that he was not aware of the law on the abuse of the naira, adding that he was a social media influencer with over five million followers.
However, Justice Awogboro told him that ignorance of the law was not an excuse.
Bobrisky then said; “I know, My Lord. My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.
“I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat it again. I regret my actions,” he pleaded.
