A Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State, on Friday, October 3, 2025, issued an order directing the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police to maintain the status quo in the ongoing case concerning the controversial tinted glass permit.
The suit was filed by a legal practitioner, Mr John Aikpokpo-Martins Esq., in which he is challenging the legality of the tinted permit enforcement by the Nigeria Police Force.
The suit with No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025: John Aikpokpo-Martins v. Inspector General of Police & Nigeria Police Force, was listed for hearing on Friday.
While delivering its ruling on the interim order, the Court directed the Nigeria Police to respect judicial processes pending further proceedings in the matter.
A senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr Kunle Edun, who led the legal team, stressed that the directive by the court is a major step in ensuring that the rule of law is upheld while the substantive issues in the case are being determined.
