COVID-19 Update: 328 New Cases Take Nigeria’s Tally To 11,844

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday said the 328 new cases has taken the total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the country to 11,844.

This is as latest figures published by Johns Hopkins University indicate that about 6,724,516 cases have been detected worldwide, with 394,018 deaths and 2,996,832 people having been treated and now recovered from the virus as at Friday, June 5, 2020.

According to the NCDC’s reports, “On the 5th of June 2020, 328 new confirmed cases and 10 deaths were recorded in Nigeria”, adding that; “No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.”

Further confirming the information on its official Twitter handle, the NCDC said: “Till date, 11,844 cases have been confirmed, 3696 cases have been discharged and 333 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”

The Centre explained that the 328 new cases reported from 14 states of the Federation showed thus: Lagos – (121); FCT – (70); Bauchi – (25); Rivers – (18); Oyo – (16); Kaduna – (15); and Gombe – (14).

Others listed are: Edo – (13); Ogun – (13); Jigawa – Eight (8); Enugu – Six (6); Kano – Five (5); Osun and Ondo – Two (2) cases each.
