COVID-19 Update: Nigeria Records 1st Death, Confirmed Cases Now 36

Nigeria on Monday recorded its first death casualty from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported that the unfortunate case involved a 67-year-old male who returned to the country recently following a medical procedure in the United Kingdom (UK).

According to the NCDC, aside from having underlying medical conditions of multiple myeloma and diabetes, he was also undergoing chemotherapy.

Meanwhile, the NCDC has also confirmed that six new cases of the COVID-19 have been detected in the country today, Monday, March 23, 2020.

With the latest development, the total number of cases in Nigeria now stand at 36

The six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 indicate that two (2) are in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); three (3) in Lagos State; and one (1) in Edo State.

The NCDC said two (2) of these cases are returning travellers from the UK.

Currently; Lagos has 25; FCT – Six (6); Ogun – two (2); Ekiti – one (1); Oyo – one (1); and Edo – one (1).
