BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday night put the country’s tally of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases at 43,151 after reporting 462 fresh daily infections nationwide.
In its published update on the virus status, the NCDC said only one death was officially recorded in the country on Friday, July 31, 2020.
The statistics captured on its website also indicated that for the second day running, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) dusted the nation’s epicentre, Lagos by posting the highest infection figures in the last 24 hours.
According to the NCDC’s highlights; “On the 31st of July 2020, 462 new confirmed cases and 1 death were recorded in Nigeria
“Till date, 43,151 cases have been confirmed, 19,565 cases have been discharged and 879 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)”
It further explained the 462 new cases came in from 16 stateswith the breakdown showing that: FCT (93), Lagos (78), Plateau (64), Kaduna (54), Oyo (47), Ondo (32) and Adamawa (23).
Others on the chart include: Bauchi (19), Rivers (9), Ogun (9), Delta (9), Edo (7), Kano (6), Enugu (6), Nasarawa (5), and Osun (1)
