BY AHMED TUKUR LAFIA – The Nasarawa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is embroiled in serious crisis over the suspension of its chairman for Akwanga Local Government Area, Mr Micah Magaji over alleged anti-party activities and embezzlement of funds.
Magaji, who was suspended by 13 Ancho Ward officials of the party was alleged to have been disloyal to Governor Abdullahi Sule, who also hails from Akwanga Local Government.

However, in what seems like power play, the State Secretary of the party, Aliyu Bello declared the suspension null and void, describing the ward officials as “disgruntle officials”.
The party scribe threw the party officials to the cleaners for not adhering to the party’s constitution in suspending the party chairman.
The disparaging statement is now causing serious ripples among party faithful who considered such statement as abusive and insult to the party as a whole.
This is as some of the stakeholders insist that officials represent the party and any affront on them is being directed at the party, stressing that the state Secretary of the APC ought to know better.
Aliyu Bello in a statement declaring “null and void,” the purported suspension of Magaji as chairman by 13 Wards officials of the party, noted that the action of the Ward party officials is an affront on the State Working Committee of the party.
The statement reads in part; “The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasarawa State has been drawn to the purported suspension of APC chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area, Mr Micah Magaji and the subsequent swearing-in of his deputy as acting chairman of the party in the area by some disgruntled party officials with tacit support of some appointed and elected government officials”.
“The action is an affront on the leadership of the party in Nasarawa State. Consequently, the State Working Committee considers their action illegal null and void and has no effect as the State Working
Committee recognize the leadership of Mr Micah Magaji as the substantive chairman of APC in Akwanga Local Government Area”
Even though, the State Chairman of the APC, Mr Philip Tatari Shekwo claimed that it is a family affair that has since been resolved, some stakeholders however want the State Secretary to withdraw his statement or punitive measures be taken against him.
