Cross River Hosts Calabar Tourism Week In November
BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – In its drive to reposition Cross River State as an attractive investors-haven, the Cross River Tourism Calendar has been further expanded with the endorsement of Calabar Fashion Week (CFW).
The CFW is slated to come on stream during the first weekend of November 2024 as part of the government’s People’s First agenda implementation.
Expected to attract a consortium of fashion designers across the country, the Week will feature the exhibition oqf quality local fabrics designed and developed by budding talents.
The President of Phronesis Fashion World, Mr Jude Attah told Forefront News in Calabar that what inspired the initiative is the fact that some communities in the state are noted for their expertise in local fabric weaving, and the Calabar Fashion Week would provide a huge opportunity for them to showcase their talents
Mr Attah further said since Calabar is already a well-known brand name in tourism promotion, they merely needed to key in and contribute their quota to bring to limelight those hidden treasures the State is noted for.
He explained that the event will also feature a Talk-Shop in partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), where the Chairman of the Cross River State council, Comrade Archibong Bassey is scheduled to deliver a keynote lecture on the role of media in fashion promotion
