CSN Applauds Tinubu Over Cabinet Composition
A civil society group on the aegis of ‘Coalition for the survival of Nigeria (CSN), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing top technocrats as Ministers into the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The group, in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Chief Ezekiel Afukonyo, Secretary Chief C.J. Chinwuba and Convener, Mr Loverty Terr Makyur, called on Nigerians to support the cabinet to help President Tinubu in the task of steering the ship of nation amid the challenges the country and her citizens are facing.
The statement further stated; “We believe that Mr President is taking the best steps forward in the interest of all Nigerians, hence we urge Nigerians to be prayerful as he navigates the present challenges in order to bring to the Nation a more prosperous and stable economy that will work for us all”.
The group noted that the mixed reactions that trailed the announcement of portfolios by the President, saying that was to be expected, adding however that many Nigerians had hailed the modification of some portfolios to reflect the 21st global economic trends, policies and governance realities.
The group further said; “In what could be seen as visionary and an expression of purposeful intent, the president split the petroleum ministry into two with Gas and Petroleum resources having different ministers of state.
“A new ministry of Marine Resources and Blue Economy has also been created. This is in line with International best practices for the management and harnessing of marine resources for environmental preservation, ethical commercial exploitation and blue life promotion.”
The group said that the decision had also been applauded like-minded organisations.
It cited ABEA, a coalition of professionals, scholars, civil society organisations, and activists striving for sustainable development of Marine Resources across Africa as one of such organisations.
In a statement issued by the organisation’s secretariat in Nairobi and signed by interim secretary, Ms Juanita Njiru, ABEA expressed its enthusiastic support for the creation of the new ministry.
