Cultists Kill Assistant Police Commissioner In Imo

BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – The gruesome murder of a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police and lawyer, Barrister Christian Kpatuma, by some suspected cultists has thrown the Agwa clan in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State into mourning with the indigenes of the area now leaving in palpable fear.

Reports indicate that the late ACP Kpatuma, popularly known as ‘HIPPIES’, was allegedly murdered by cultists after they stormed his residence in the early hours of Wednesday and murdered him in cold blood

The reports further said the cultists, who are well-known in the area, have taken over the Agwa community unchallenged with the people obviously helpless and at their mercy.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a prominent indigene of the area urged the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma to urgently intervene to curb the cultists’ activities and bring perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.

According to the community leader; “I call on the Governor of Imo State to direct the security agencies to Agwa with a view to hunting down these cultists, their sponsors and financiers until they are all brought to book.

“Agwa people now live in great fear, in spite of the fact that her well-meaning sons and daughters suffered to build a Police Divisional Headquarters (adjudged to be the best in Imo State), which was commissioned barely three days ago together with a Vigilante Service. I am greatly pained.”

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the Spokesman of the Imo Police Command, CSP Michael Abattam, said he was still expecting to get details from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area.

“I have heard about it, but I want to get the details from the Divisional Police Officer in the area and get back to you,” Abattam said. – With The Nation report
