Officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) recorded another successful outing against smugglers as they impounded a truck in Ogun State with about 3,000 cartons of smuggled frozen poultry valued at over N47 million.

The Comptroller of Customs in Ogun State, Sani Magudu, said on Monday that the vehicle, with registration number ICT-13E-047, belongs to Dangote Cement but the driver however escaped being arrested,

Magudu said preliminary investigations revealed that the frozen poultry products were transported into the country from Republic of Benin.

“A trailer belonging to Dangote Group, loaded with 3,000 cartons of frozen turkey, was intercepted on Saturday 16th September, 2017 at about 3.45 am along Sagamu-Abeokuta interchange”, he said in a statement issued by the Command.

According to him, the smugglers were unaware that officers have been on their trail from‎ the point of products’ packaging until the truck was eventually seized at about 3.45 a.m. on Saturday at Sagamu interchange, linking the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway‎.
