A serving National Youth Service Corps member and lawyer, Miss Eunice Ameh, who was declared missing since last week Tuesday, has been found safe.
Eunice Ameh’s sudden disappearance had triggered apprehension and serious concerns among her colleagues, friends, members of the legal profession and the NYSC.
She was last seen on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, after leaving her pace of work in Maitama, Abuja.
However, her being found unharmed brought about relief to the legal family in Abuja as well as the NYSC.
Close family sources said Eunice was found unharmed on Sunday morning, ending days of uncertainty.
The news of her being found came hours after the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), which is her professional organisation, issued a statement demanding her immediate and unconditional release.
The NBA specifically urged security agencies to step up efforts to find and effect her release.
The NBA statement titled; “Release Eunice Ameh Now!” which was signed by Mr Afam Osigwe, SAN, described the incident as “deeply disturbing”.
In the words of Osigwe; “When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not distant to the Nigerian Bar Association — it is personal. We are more than a professional body, we are a community bound by shared sacrifice, shared dreams and a collective duty to stand for one another.
“No young Nigerian who answered the call to national service should disappear without an immediate, coordinated and determined response from our security agencies,” the NBA stressed.
The Bar accordingly tasked the Inspector-General of Police to as a matter of national concern, deploy tactical and intelligence resources to secure her recovery and bring anyone involved to justice.
Eunice Ameh, described as a quiet and unassuming young lady, is presently a Corps Member with the FCT NYSC scheme. He sudden disappearance under troubling and questionable circumstances shortly after work, expectedly sparked anxiety among her colleagues, relatives, the NBA and members of the public.
Family sources disclosed that Eunice Ameh had only recently started work as a sales manager with Blades and Butchers Ltd on Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama, Abuja where she resumed about two weeks before she went missing and was also preparing to complete her NYSC service.
“She works at Lake Chad Crescent with Blades and Butchers in Maitama. She was last seen around 5:40 pm on Wednesday heading home toward the Life Camp junction, where she lived in a corps members’ lodge,” the source explained.
The case was lodged at the Maitama Police Division, just as the FCT NYSC authorities were notified.
However, before her recovery on Sunday morning, relatives described the wait as traumatic and emotionally devastating even as the family are presently more concern about her medical wellbeing.
