Deadly Revenge: I killed My Friend Who Snatched My Boyfriend 10Yrs Ago – Anita
Anita Ofili and Glory Okon were close friends that shared fond memories together as the duo attended the same tertiary institutions together but, about ten years ago, the cordial relationship developed hiccups.
Anita the suspected murderer claimed that Glory, who was her friend of over 20years committed a sin of betrayer of trust against her by snatching her boyfriend that she was hoping to marry. And for 10 good years, Anita Ofili kept the pain in her mind and close to her chest waiting for the opportune time to strike. And like a poisonous viper, she waited patiently for Glory Okon to fall into her set trap to enable her carry out a revenge she had hatched for years.
Unknown to Glory, the reconciliation with her longtime friend which took place about two weeks before her untimely death was but, a fluke and decoy to get back at her for which she paid the supreme price and presently not in a position to tell her own story.
The murdered Glory may had thought that an incident that took place as a result of love with her friend had passed and forgotten but it was not so.
The singular misunderstanding that tore the two bosom friends part for close to 10 years was still hurting Anita but unfortunately, Glory may not have noticed or take it into consideration before they met again and reconciled two weeks before her death.
The perceived reconciliation it was gathered was seen as genuine thus, they both attended a party together and returned to Anita’s apartment together penultimate Sunday.
Narrating her murderous act, Anita Ofili said; “Glory and I had been good friends for years but, she betrayed that friendship by snatching my boyfriend.
“I had the intention of marrying my boyfriend then but her action strained the relationship which led us to go our separate ways for 10 years. We only reconciled two weeks ago after which I invited her to my house and the rest you know”.
Confirming the unfortunate incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said that Anita Ofili has been arrested and presently helping the police in investigation.
According to Hundeyin, “At 5.50p.m., on March 26, 2023, a resident of Greenville Estate came to the station to report that he heard someone screaming from the room of one Anita Ofili and that himself and other tenants quickly rushed to the room, forced the door opened only to meet Anita on top of Glory Okon, who came to visit her.”
The police spokesperson said Anita’s cotenants noticed that she held Glory’s throat and stabbed her on the neck and back with a kitchen knife. They later rushed Glory Okon to the hospital but she was confirmed dead.
He further said; “Upon the information, a team of detectives moved to the scene. The suspect was arrested, the knife recovered, while the corpse was deposited at the Mainland General Hospital mortuary, Yaba, for autopsy and preservation.
“The suspect has been transferred to the SCIID, Yaba, for discreet investigation,” he explained.
It was gathered that a crack team of detectives visited Anita Ofili’s apartment during which the tramadol drugs suspected to have been used to drug the victim was recovered.
In her statement, Anita Ofili admitted to have committed the act owing to the fact the deceased (Glory) snatched her boyfriend about 10 years ago.
However, luck ran out for Anita as her evil plan got uncovered by her co-tenants in the building where her one-room self-contain apartment is situated. The co-tenants upon hearing a save-my-soul shout ran out at about 1.20p.m., penultimate Sunday to help save the situation.
Upon getting to the front of Anita’s door, they had to act quickly by forcing the door open after which they discover the killer Anita had a knife she used to thrust into Glory’s neck that pierced into her throat which caused a lot of bleeding and blood lost.
When Glory was rushed to the General Hospital on Lagos Island, she was confirmed dead.
An eye witness account said that it was the landlord’s daughter that first heard the screaming of late Glory and quickly dashed to the vicinity and peeped through the window only to see a masked person stabbing a lady.
The eye witness further said on condition of anonymity; “She rushed and called her father, who also alerted other tenants that forced the door opened only to discover that the masked person was Anita Ofili.
“The whole of Anita’s room was filled with blood. The victim was still breathing when we forced the door opened. We had to quickly tie Anita’s legs and hands to prevent her from escaping.
“Before the arrival of the Police, Anita did not show any remorse saying that she would explain to the police what happened.
“Anita however said that victim was her friend and that her action was in revenge for what the she did to her some years ago”.
