Death Of Hon Iliyasu: Gbajabiamila Suspends House Activities, Postpones Celebration Of PWDs

BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – Following the demise of a member of the House, Representatives, Late Hon Ja’afaru Iliyasu, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila has announced the postponement of a scheduled celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The PWDs celebration was earlier planned to hold on Tuesday.

In the same vein, the Speaker has equally declared that plenary sessions and other legislative activities for Tuesday have been suspended for a day in line with the policy of the House whenever a member passes on.

A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Lanre Lasisi, said the PWDs day celebration will now hold on Wednesday.

The statement said the postponement was in honour of the late Iliyasu, who passed away on Monday morning in Abuja.
