Deborah Samuel: Say No To Religious Bigots In 2023 – CAN Youth Wing Advocates

The Christian Association of Nigeria (Youth Wing) has urged Nigerians across ethnic and religious divides to blacklist any politician identified as a religious bigot in the 2023 general elections.

“We must say no to all religious bigots, their sponsors and supporters by withholding our votes from such wicked elements parading themselves as political officers holders and seekers in next year’s polls”, the CAN Youths maintained.

They also threatened that Christian youths will reject politicians who by their actions or inactions have not condemned the gruesome killing of Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto in 2023.

A statement by the Chairman, Youth Wing of CAN (YOWICAN), Belusochukwu Enwere, said Deborah’s death would expose the evil agenda of many wicked politicians, warning that the over six million registered voters, who are YOWICAN members, will execute their threat as a warning to those who are against the peace and progress of Nigeria.

The YOWICAN Chairman, while urging all Christian youths to be peaceful and shun the temptation to take laws into their hands, said God will surely fight and avenge Deborah’s murder.

He said it is saddening that most of those in the Nigerian political class gunning to lead us as a country have failed to openly condemn the dastardly act or even commiserate with the bereaved family.

“Even after killing Deborah, the miscreants continued to destroy people’s properties, burning church facilities and going from house to house intimidating peaceful Christians. The security agencies should do the needful before this becomes a religious war.

“This is nauseating and disheartening indeed. Any politician who failed to mourn with the nation, especially the Christians, in this sorrowful time should forget our votes in 2023.

“We will mobilize Christian youths across the nooks and crannies of the country to ensure that such persons are stopped because he or she will be a misrepresentation of the nation. Nigeria is a secular state, not a religious enclave”,  Enwere said.
