BY GLORIA USMAN, ABUJA – Formidable and presidential hopeful of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the schedule September Triennial National Delegates Conference, Mr. Jacob Edi has condemned in very strong terms the demolition of the structures housing Fresh FM station, Ibadan, in Oyo State.
A statement by the JacobEdiForNUJ President Organization on the aegis of “NUJ Rescue Mission” described the pulling down of the FM building as most unfortunate, unwarranted and uncalled for particularly against the backdrop of the case already before a competent court for adjudication.
In the statement, Edi stressed that only an irresponsible and a lawless government that has no room for the application of the rule of law can behave in such a manner as evil merchants.
Edi further said; “It is really sad that a democratically elected government can behave in such a civilized manner. It is reprehensible, to say the least.
“My heart goes to our distraught colleagues at FRESH FM. I join other well-meaning Nigerians to condemn this ignoble act and warn of the dangers ahead for the profession and call for a united action against those who want to annihilate journalists and journalism.”
