BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, on Friday left Awe, Nasarawa State, where he was hitherto confined under the guise of banishment by the Kano State Government that announced his dethronement on Monday.
Sanusi is believed to have departed Awe town at about 4:27 pm in company of his bosom friend, Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State.
Before departing Awe, the former Emir of Kano led other Muslim faithful in observing the Friday Juma’at prayer at the Central Mosque.
Sanusi admonished Muslims to take whatever situation they found themselves in, as destiny as well as encouraged them to always live with the fear of God and accept whatever predicament that befell them in good faith.
He prayed for the peace and development of the country.
Earlier in the day, the aged mother of the dethroned Emir Sanusi, Hajiya Saudatu Hussain, arrived Awe and met with his son.
Sanusi is believed to be headed for Abuja following his freedom as ordered by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The deposed Emir and Governor el-Rufai later drove off from Awe in the official car of the Kaduna State governor.
Sanusi, after his dethronement, was initially taken to Loko in Nasarawa State and later moved to Awe, a town also in Nasarawa State in North-central geo-political zone of Nigeria.
