Dije Aboki Mounts Saddle As Kano State’s First Female Chief Judge
History took centre stage in Kano on Thursday as the State House of Assembly confirmed the appointment of Justice Dije Aboki as the first female Chief Judge (CJ) of the State.
Her confirmation as the substantive Chief Judge followed the consideration of a letter sent to the Assembly by Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf and read by Speaker Ismail Falgore, during the plenary.
Aboki’s journey to the position of Chief Judge began in March when she was appointed and sworn in as the Acting Chief Judge by the immediate past Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
While commending the appointment and urging the new Chief Judge to continue her dedicated service to the judiciary, the House Speaker said; “We congratulate Dije Aboki on this historic appointment. We believe that her wealth of experience and professionalism will contribute to the development and growth of our state’s legal system.
“We urge her to remain dedicated to her duties and work collaboratively with the government to enhance the progress of Kano State.”
Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly has also confirmed three more commissioner-nominees sent to the Assembly by Governor Kabir-Yusuf.
The nominees screened and confirmed by the lawmakers are Ibrahim Fagge, Ibrahim Namadi, and Amina Abdullahi -Sani.
Speaking after the nominees’ confirmation by the Assembly, Speaker Falgore urged them to justify the appointment by being dedicated to their duties when assigned portfolios.
He also emphasised the need for them to complement the State Government’s efforts in advancing the development agenda of Kano State.
Responding to their confirmation by the House, all nominees, who described the opportunity as a call to serve the people of Kano State, pledged their readiness to justify the confidence reposed on them by the Governor.
