Domestic Dispute: Feeling Cornered, 25 Years Old Wife Stabs Husband In Bauchi
BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – A domestic argument between a couple in a village in Bauchi State has led to the tragic death of a man after his wife, Salamatu Danjuma allegedly stabbed him to death.
This was disclosed by Spokesperson of the Police Command in Bauchi, CSP Ahmed Wakili, who explained that on February 24, 2025, the Police Command apprehended Salamatu Danjuma, a 25-year-old resident of Nadabo village in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area (LGA), in connection with the unfortunate death of her husband, following a domestic dispute.
CSP Wakili said; “Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been facing ongoing marital challenges regarding the custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
“Despite initial discussions with her family that seemed to favour welcoming the child into their home, the husband later refused, which heightened tensions between them.
“The situation escalated drastically when Salamatu, feeling cornered and betrayed by her husband’s refusal and in a moment of heated argument, used a knife from their bedroom, resulting in a tragic outcome,” he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi State command, said that while responding swiftly to a distress call, Detectives from the Bununu Police Divisional Headquarters were drafted to the scene, evacuated the victim to the Cottage Hospital in Bununu for immediate medical assistance.
According to Wakili; “Unfortunately, the attending medical staff later confirmed the husband’s death due to the injuries sustained”.
In light of these events, the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and discreet inquiry into the matter, adding that after the investigation, appropriate legal actions will be taken.
