Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), on Monday, September 9, 2024, invaded and took over the office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) in Abuja.

The action of the DSS is coming barely 24 hours after SERAP gave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu an ultimatum to order the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), to immediately reverse what it described as the “illegal and unconstitutional” hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, at its retail outlets.

SERAP particularly called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately direct the DSS to end the harassment, intimidation and attack on the rights of Nigerians.

These were contained in a statement by SERAP on its X handle, describing the action of the DSS as an ‘unlawful occupation’.

The statement by SERAP said the DSS officers are requesting to meet with its directors and called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene.
