Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday night rescued the four remaining students kidnapped from the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State.
It was gathered that no ransom was paid in the rescue that was successfully carried out through an intelligence-led operation.
While one of the abductors was arrested during the raid, the others were not that lucky as they did not survive the rescue operation.
The students that included four males and a female, were abducted on June 3, 2026 from their off-campus hostel in the Low-cost area of Kaura Namoda town after bandits stormed the building and took six of them, but two out of the six were later released.
Following the development, security forces intensified surveillance and tracking which eventually led to the safe rescue of the remaining four students.
The operation comes days after DSS operatives in Zamfara also rescued a professor of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
A security source said that the rescued students have been reunited with their families, thereby brought the ordeal to a close and also ease heightened tension in the Kaura Namoda community.
