BY IFIOK NSIKAKABASI – A Non-Government Organization (NGO), Comfort Centre for Love and Care (3CL) aka “Jesus Lovers” on ‘Good Friday’ put smiles on the faces of many vulnerable and less-privileged women in the suburbs of Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In the spirit of this year’s Easter celebration, the organization took its maiden empowerment programme tagged; “Jesus Is Risen and He Is Alive Forever More” to the popular Banana Village and Monkey Village featuring Medical Outreach; Soap Making, and Make-Up training for participants.

Speaking at the event, the President and Chief Executive Officer of 3LC, Comfort Ofornedu said the gesture was in line with its core value of providing succour to the elderly, widows, and vulnerable members of society

She said putting smiles on the faces of people who are economically challenged with no form of assistance from the government or society remains the focal point of the organization, assuring that 3CL will not relent in positively impacting the lives of the challenged, downtrodden, and vulnerable people through the propagation of the love and gospel of Jesus Christ to alleviate their suffering.

Ms Offornedu said the outreach was designed to “extend our love to the target groups, meeting their health/empowerment needs and assure them of our commitment to their welfare as well as to give the people reasons to smile and be grateful to God”

For her, 3CL is focused on creating “an environment where everyone has the opportunity to live a life of purpose and fulfilment”, adding; “We work to enhance the capacities of beneficiaries so that they can realize their potential and can bring positive change in their lives.”

In his word charge at the occasion, Pastor Chijioke Ekowa who is with the Living Faith Church, Durumi, Abuja, urged participants to stay focused on God and the love of His Son, Jesus Christ for their change of story.

Some beneficiaries of the 3CL programmes happily appreciated the team for intervening in their situation during these trying times, even as they also prayed for God’s protection and wished the organization many years of selfless
service ahead.

Meanwhile, during its inaugural meeting on Thursday, March 28, 2024, with the theme, “IT IS TIME: FOR THE VISION IS YET FOR AN APPOINTED TIME”, 3CL declared that it was founded on the “principles of Jesus’ kind of love, compassion, dignity, integrity, and community service”.

It said the aim is to “create a haven where individuals can find solace, care, and a supportive environment regardless of geographical or cultural boundaries, thereby fostering a world where hope and comfort know no boundaries”.

The Chairman of the 3CL Advisory Board, Pastor Chuks Josiah, who addressed the Team members on integrity, character, and love for humanity, charged them to always honour God by praying constantly, serving with humility, and being a living testimony of the transformative gospel and power of Jesus Christ.
