Says Obaseki lied about his associate
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO — The Edo State Media Council of All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned Andrew Momodu, a Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki, saying claims of his being an aide to former National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole are clearly untrue.
Debunking reports that Momodu, who recently defected to the PDP was an aide of Oshiomhole, the Council said it is unfortunate that the governor’s spokesman decided to deliberately misinform the public and members of their new found love, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
A member of the Media Council and current Commissioner for Special Projects in Imo State, Simon Ebegbulem, said in a statement that Momodu has always been with Governor Obaseki and describing him as ‘Oshiomhole’s aide’ is the height of misinformation and deceit by the governor’s camp
Ebegbulem said: “Momodu has been with Governor Godwin Obaseki right from the inception of the administration. He is also a known close associate of the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu. I am shocked that they are now describing him as an aide to Oshiomhole.”
According to him, “The same Momodu was mentioned in Comrade Oshiomhole’s petition to the Inspector General of Police as one of the persons who was alleged to have led thugs to attack the residence of Comrade Oshiomhole in Benin City.”
The statement further said; “However, we are aware of where this misinformation is coming from. I am shocked that the governor’s spokesman will deliberately misinform the public and members of the PDP who are already worried by the imminent defeat they will face on September 19.”
“The said Momodu has been in the administration of Obaseki from the beginning, he has only gone to join Obaseki in the PDP”, Ebegbulem said
Reports in the media had claimed that Mr Andrew Momodu, an ex-aide to the former APC National Chairman, Oshiomhole, defected to the PDP, and even pledged the sum of N5 million to support the re-election of Governor Obaseki.
