Edo 2024: Bauchi Gov Bala Leads PDP Post-Primary Reconciliation Committee
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State will lead an eleven-member post-primary election reconciliation committee for Edo State to address fallouts from the just concluded governorship primary in the state.
The Committee, put together by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), also has former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, Senator Seriake Dickson, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, and Senator Stella Omu as members.
Others in the team are Dame Esther Uduehi, Sen. Olalere Oyewunmi, Professor Sandy Onor, and Alhaji Isiaka Sola Gold, with Emmanuel Enoidem (SAN) to serve as Secretary and Barrister Jacob Otorkpa as the Administrative Secretary.
A statement by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba in Abuja said; “Following the successful conduct of our Edo State Governorship Primary Election, the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great Party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution and Guidelines of our Party, constitutes the Edo State Post-Primary Election Reconciliation Committee.
“The Committee is charged with the responsibility of reconciling all critical stakeholders and all our party members in Edo State ahead of the September 21, 2024 Governorship Election in the State.
“The NWC urges all critical stakeholders and members of our great Party in Edo State to remain steadfast and continue to work hard for the success of our Party and Governorship Candidate, Dr. Asuerinme Ighodalo, in the September 21, 2024, Governorship Election in Edo State.”
The committee’s appointment comes on the heels of demands by the Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shuaibu, to be recognised as the PDP’s “authentic” gubernatorial flag bearer, claiming that he was duly elected at the party primary conducted by genuine delegates in line with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
Comrade Shaibu has threatened to approach the court on the matter if the certificate of return, earlier issued to former Chairman of Sterling Bank, Asue Ighodalo by the PDP National Headquarters is not withdrawn and given to him.
