Edo Governorship: INEC Declares Obaseki Winner
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Governor Godwin Obaseki, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of the Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State.
Obaseki garnered a total of 307,955 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who recorded a total of 223,619.
INEC’s Returning Officer for the Edo election declared that Obaseki having polled the highest number of votes as required by law is returned elected.
A perusal at the result showed that of the 18 Local Government Areas, the PDP won in 15 while the APC led in three.
