…Orders commencement of disciplinary procedure
In a decisive and bold move towards addressing the unprofessional conduct of some Police Officers attached to the Edo State Police Command who were responsible for running over a citizen at Ekpoma, theActing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate disbanding of the team.
The decisive action of disbanding the team as ordered by IGP Egbetokun is part of the steps aimed at regularizing and standardizing police operations in the axis with a view to restore public trust in the Police Force.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the operatives involved in the unfortunate development are currently facing disciplinary charges and administrative procedures.
According to the Police spokesperson; ‘’This move underscores the commitment of the IGP to hold officers accountable for their actions which will never be tolerated in the Nigeria Police Force’’.
The Acting IGP reiterated his commitment to ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and ethics, even as he urged members of the public to always cooperate with Police Officers in the discharge of their statutory duties.
