EFCC Seals Alleged Obiano’s Building In Anambra

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sealed off an uncompleted building allegedly belonging to the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.

The building said to be located at Ngozika Estate in Awka, the Anambra State capital was reportedly locked up by the anti-graft agency on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

The former Governor, who was released by the EFCC on Thursday after spending six days in their custody, was arrested on March 17, 2022 at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos on his way to Houston Texas in the United State.

Inside sources disclosed on Friday that the agency placed a notice that reads “EFCC, Keep Off. Under Investigation” on the said uncompleted building.

A statement by the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, had indicated that Chief Obiano was arrested for alleged “misappropriation of public funds and money laundering “.

Reports said the funds involved include five billion Naira (N5bn) Sure-P and 37 billion Naira security votes during his eight years tenure as the Anambra State Chief Executive.
