BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, the winner of the Ekiti State governorship poll held on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Coming a distant third is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Bisi Kolawole who polled a total of 67,457 votes at the election.

Announcing the results, Prof Adebowale said Oyebanji having scored the highest number of votes was declared the winner and returned elected as the Governor-elect of Ekiti State.

Reports indicate that Saturday’s poll witnessed a massive turnout of voters in the State as electorates trooped out as early as 6:45am to cast their votes with the APC Standard bearer recording a landslide victory in the exercise.

Oyebanji, who was the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) under Governor Kayode Fayemi, won in 15 out of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

The PDP candidate, a former state Chairman of the opposition party, Chief Kolawole won only his Efon Alaye local government area.

However, though coming second overall in the poll, it was no cheering news for former governor and the SDP flag bearer, Chief  Oni, who lost his ldo-Osi local government council to the ruling APC, winning only in his unit and ward.
