Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has condoled the families of two Nigerian Military personnel killed in active service while defending students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna against bandits on Monday, July 5, 2021.

The two, Private Salisu Rabiu of the Nigerian Army and Ordinary Seaman Bilal Mohammed of the Nigerian Navy paid the supreme price engaging the bandits who attacked the school and abducted an unspecified number of students early on Monday morning.

Governor el-Rufai described both Rabiu and Mohammed as national heroes who lost their lives battling criminals and outlaws who represent the worst of humanity.

According to the governor, their lives would not go in vain as the victory of evil men is only temporary, but their retribution permanent.

Praying for the repose of their souls, Governor el-Rufai maintained that Nigerian troops and all security personnel on the frontlines deserve solidarity, motivation and gratitude, instead of condemnation from the citizenry.

He said negative comments against security personnel represent most unfortunate display of ingratitude by anyone given their sacrifices and patriotism against all odds.

Meanwhile, the Governor has, on behalf of the government and people of Kaduna State, offered financial assistance to the immediate families of the deceased military men.

Kaduna State Commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, represented Governor El-Rufai at the funeral of Ordinary Seaman Mohammed at Ungwan Kanawa Cemetery, Kaduna North Local Government Area.

Aruwan also attended prayers session offered for Private Rabiu at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital’s mortuary before his remains were taken to Daura, Katsina State for final interment.
