El-Zakzakky, Wife To Regain Freedom Soon, As FG Negotiates With His Family
The Federal Government is believed to be concluding negotiations for the release of the detained leader of th Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzakky and his wife, Hajiya Zeenah.
It was gathered that both local and international pressure is being brought to bear on the government for the release of El-Zakzakky particularly against the backdrop of increasing security concerns as his followers are getting more agitated and creating security tension in parts of the country.
Specifically, the latest moves by the government, it was gathered followed the massive protests in the National Assembly, Federal Secretariat, Abuja as well as Indonesia, Canada, Pakistan and the United Kingdom by supporters of El-Zakzakky which made the government to have a new approach to its initial refusal to release the IMN leader.
Mohammed El-Zakzakky, who is believed to be the only surviving son of the detained Islamic Sheik, confirmed in a statement that the Nigerian authorities have finally opened discussions and negotiations with some prominent officials to ensure the release of his father.
He however, expressed dissatisfaction with the slow process the negotiation is taking thereby creating unnecessary bottlenecks thereby buying time.
Mohammed El-Zakzakky said; “I will urged the Federal Government to speed up the process as time has clearly run out for us. We need to ensure that they quickly get proper medical treatment over their deteriorating health conditions.”
Similarly, the Islamic Human Rights Committee (IHRC) also confirmed that discussions are at an advanced stage for the release of the IMN Leader El-Zakzakky.
The IHRC which said it is in touch with the family of El-Zakzakky, said the move is to get the Federal Government release them without further delay to enable the spouse seek urgent medical treatment abroad.
The IHRC therefore called on the Nigerian government to as a matter of urgency and needed peace, fast-track the process of releasing El-Zakzakky and his wife to forestall further confrontations between the members of IMN and security agencies that are already overstretched.
