Emir Bayero Writes Police Of Plans To Hold Separate Durbar On Eid-el-Ftr
The crisis over the Emir of Kano has taken another angle as the embattled 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has written the Police Command in Kano of his intention to conduct this year’s Sallah Durbar to mark the Eid-el-Ftr festival.
This is coming few days after the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, directed the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, to commence preparations for the grand Sallah celebration.
Bayero’s letter to the Nigeria Police Force which appeared online was signed by his Private Secretary, Abdullahi Haruna Kwaru and addressed to the Commissioner of Police.
The letter enunciated plans of the embattled Emir for the traditional festivities at the end of the Ramadan.
The schedules of the celebrations according to the letter include Hawan Sallah, Hawan Daushe, and Hawan Nassarawa on the 2nd and 3rd days of Shawwal 1446 AH which would be followed by a cultural event on the 4th day.
The letter also indicated that this year’s Durbar coincided with Bayero’s five-year anniversary on the throne.
According to Kwaru; “The purpose of this letter is to formally notify the security agencies in Kano State, particularly the police force, that this year’s Sallah events coincided with five years of His Highness on the throne of his forefathers, with the assurance that all activities will be conducted peacefully”.
